HIGH ATLAS GRAND TRAVERSE & MOUNT TOUBKAL SUMMIT

Your journey begins in Imlil (1740m).

The trail rises gradually through orchards and terraced fields, giving you time to adapt to the rhythm of the mountains. As you climb toward Tizi n’Tamatert (2279m), the views open over the vast Imnane Valley.

From the pass, descend into a quieter world — remote villages, stone houses, and traditional life.

Arrive in Tachddirt, one of the highest villages in Morocco, where you are welcomed into a local guesthouse.

his is where the trek becomes truly immersive.

Following ancient mule trails, you pass through isolated villages like Timichi and Ikiss, surrounded by terraced agriculture and rugged peaks.

This region remains largely untouched by tourism — offering a rare glimpse into authentic Amazigh life.

By late afternoon, you enter the lush Azzaden Valley, known for its walnut groves and dramatic landscapes.

Overnight in a guesthouse in Matat village, hosted by a local family.

Today’s trek is more relaxed but equally scenic.

Climb through juniper forests toward Tizi Oudid (~2200m), offering wide views across the valley you’ve just crossed.

Descend into the alpine pasture of Azib Tamsoult (2250m), surrounded by towering peaks.

In the afternoon, optional visit to the Ighouliden waterfalls, the highest in the High Atlas — a hidden gem.

This is the most dramatic stage of the expedition.

The trail climbs steadily toward Tizi Aguelzim (3560m) — one of the most spectacular passes in the Atlas.

At the top, the landscape transforms completely: raw, vast, and high alpine.

After a well-earned break, descend toward the Toubkal Refuge (3207m), your base camp for the summit.

Dinner is served early, and the evening is dedicated to rest.

An early start under the stars.

You climb steadily toward the summit of Mount Toubkal (4167m) — the highest peak in North Africa.

At the top, the reward is immense: panoramic views stretching across the Atlas Mountains and toward the Sahara.

After time at the summit, descend to the refuge, then continue all the way down to Imlil, passing through Sidi Chamharouch.
