TOUBKAL LOOP TREK VIA AZZADEN

Your journey begins with an early departure from Marrakech, leaving behind the city as the road climbs into the High Atlas Mountains.

Arriving in Imlil (1740m), you meet your local guide and begin your trek immediately. The trail winds through walnut groves, terraced farmland, and small Amazigh villages, offering your first glimpse into mountain life.

The ascent toward the Tizi n’Mzzik pass (2450m) is steady but rewarding. At the top, the landscape opens dramatically — revealing sweeping views across the Atlas ranges and the deep valleys below.

From here, you descend into the quieter and more remote Azzaden Valley, where the atmosphere shifts. Trails are lined with juniper trees, and villages feel more isolated, more traditional.

By late afternoon, you reach Tizi Oussem, a peaceful mountain village nestled in the valley.

You are welcomed into a family-run guesthouse, where a traditional dinner is prepared using fresh, local ingredients — a moment to slow down, share stories, and experience true mountain hospitality.

Wake up to the quiet rhythm of village life.

After breakfast, begin your ascent deeper into the Atlas, following trails that pass through cultivated terraces and small hamlets where daily life continues unchanged.

You climb gradually toward the Tizi Oudite pass (approx. 2200m), offering a new perspective over the Azzaden Valley and the peaks beyond.

From here, the terrain begins to shift — greener valleys give way to more rugged, mineral landscapes as you approach the high mountains.

You eventually join the main trail leading toward Mount Toubkal, continuing your ascent along the valley until you reach the Toubkal Refuge (3207m).

This is your base camp for the summit.

Dinner is served early, and the evening is spent resting and preparing for the climb ahead.

An early start before sunrise.

Under the first light of day, you begin the ascent toward the summit of Mount Toubkal (4167m). The climb is steady and demanding, but every step brings you closer to one of the most rewarding viewpoints in North Africa.

Reaching the summit is a powerful moment.

From the top, panoramic views stretch across the Atlas Mountains, the Sahara Desert, and — on clear days — even toward the Atlantic coast.

After taking time to enjoy the silence and scale of the landscape, you descend back to the refuge for a short rest.

From there, continue all the way down to Imlil, following the valley you climbed two days before.

Your driver meets you for the return journey to Marrakech — a final transition from mountain silence back to city life.
